Vintage Gunne Sax Dress Sequins and Taffeta

This is an absolutely Magnificent dress by Gunne Sax. Crisp, mulberry colored taffeta and sequins are combined for this tremendous fashion composition. As a Rule, I usually don't go into a lot of the Gunne Sax dresses that were made in the 80s but, this is a definite exception. It's truly meant for a Modern Day Princess. Check out these pics. If you want to see more, go to www.zibbet.com/artemis53 I also have this gown in a size 14 that is new with tags. Shoot me an email on the Zibbet site and I can give you more info.

Vintage Gunne Sax Prom Dress Taffeta and Sequins

Here we go again but into the 1980s. This was an Era of Excesses. Their was a Rising Affluence in the Baby Boomers and Mini-Mansions were springing up. The 'Dot Com' boom was starting to take root and everything needed to be either bigger or pricier.

All of these things were reflected in the Fashion. 'Big Hair' was teamed up with Big skirts and many so-called Hippies made a transition into Yuppies. 'Extreme' was a word that was embraced. dresses couldn't get enough sequins and beads and Logos were Born and nurtured. This dress has those features with the full skirt, sequins and wide shawl collar with a bowed rosette. The only vestiges of the 70's simplicity of style was in the country where many had moved to 'grow there own' and have wide open spaces. The city's were lit with ligts, beads and sequins.

Vintage Gunne Sax Dress Boho Style 1970s

Have a New one! This really brought me back. As I was photographing it I could feel the scarf tied around my forehead, the hemp and bead jewelry around my neck and wrists, the boots navigating the uneven ground and the shawl just in case the thermometer dropped drastically. I was walking across campus grounds and the first chill of the Fall was setting in. The skies were a deep blue with brilliant and clear white clouds. A suede, fringed purse was slung across my shoulder and I could smell leaves burning. It was an Early Friday Evening and each dormroom widow emitted Music from Cat Stevens to Allman Brothers. It was the weekend and Beckwith and I were meeting to go to a Party. I was Young, I was Free and I was Liberated. I Glowed.

This was the type of dress I was wearing. Usually I would be in jeans with a Black Leotard and Flannel Shirt. This Time it would be more Formal. There was a Band playing at one of the Dorms and necessitated a clothing upgrade. The two of us met up, trekked the hill to Tri- Towers and made our entrance. We were Stunning.

Vintage Gunne Sax Style Sundress by Candi Jones

One more time we're in those Last days of Summer and trying to squeeze out all of the beauty and warmth from them Before you know it, Fall will be here but, Today is Today, So make the Most of it.

This is a teriffic Gunne Sax Style Prairie Sundress by Candi Jones. This company was a Major competitor with Gunne Sax during the 1970s and had very similar styling. This one is a Lemon yellow with lace, pintucking and embroidered roses on the bodice. It's the perfect piece for walking the beach or dangling your bare feet in the creek. I'm definitely pleased with it!

Vintage Gunne Sax Dress for your Wedding Mc Clintock

Today I have a lovely, Vintage Gunne Sax dress for the Intimate Garden wedding. This dress is from the Scott McClintock Division that was a part of the Gunne Sax line in the 80s

The dress is an ecru sateen with a floral lace overlay. It is in a 'drop waist' style accented with a heavy cotton lace to divide the top from the skirting.

As with all Gunne's, the Bodice steals the show. Heavy, glistening embroidery accentuates the front from the neckline to the waist. Sprinkled upon this feature are tiny, golden to opalescent sequins to give a hint of Sparkle. Yes. This is a Beautiful dress. It is marked a Vintage 8 and has more generous proportions than the gowns of the 70's. I will be posting this on my Zibbet site that can be accesses on the right hand side of the screen. The url is-www.zibbet.com/artemis53. I have everything from Black label Gunnes to the Prom dresses of the 80's. Check it Out. I'M HAVING A SALE!!!!!
